Nine Men Victory Against AEK

Aris' impressive performance against AEK Larnaca on Sunday gave our team a highly important victory in Cyta Championship's Matchday 9. It was a great achievement for Liasos Louca’s men, considering that they finished the game with only 9 players on the field, having Manu Garcia and Alex Moussounda sent off with second yellow cards.

Our team had a great start in the game and managed to dominate against a strong opponent. Aris create several goal-scoring opportunities. At the half-hour mark, Gustavo received his marching orders with a second yellow card. Seven minutes later, Vitaliy Kvashuk opened the score.

In the second half, AEK tried to level the game and pressed for the equalizer. Manu Garcia’s second yellow card in the 61st minute made it even harder for Aris to hold to its advantage. But things were made even harder for our team: in the 70th minute, Aris was left with 9 men on the pitch, following Moussounda’s red card (second yellow).

The last 20 minutes were solid proof of what Aris players are made of. Playing with heart and passion, they managed to keep their lead until the final whistle, knocking AEK down from the top of the table. In the process, Aris took AEK’s undefeated streak in the championship.

Aris has established its position in 3rd place on the tournament table with 19 points.

Following the break for the national games, our team will have another very difficult game against Omonia in Nicosia on Sunday, November the 21st.
