Aris Limassol FC, in the framework of its collaboration with the country's higher educational institutions, organized on Wednesday December 11th, -for the second consecutive year- a workshop on "the profile of the sports physiotherapist in professional football". The guests were the students of the physiotherapy department of Frederick University.
The workshop began with a tour of the students in Aris’ training and treatment facilities at Tsirio and Alphamega stadiums.
Following the tour, Dr. Christos Papadopoulos, assistant coach and head of the sports performance and rehabilitation department of Aris Limassol, presented Aris' athletic model of injury diagnosis-treatment-recovery and performance.
As Dr. Papadopoulos explained, the demands in professional football are high, therefore it takes an entire medical team staffed with qualified personnel to be able to respond.
Apart from Dr. Papadopoulos, the medical team of Aris consists of the head physiotherapist and coordinator of the medical team Konstantinos Soutzis, physiotherapists Alexis Markou and Ioannis Georgiou, massage therapist George Hadjitouli, rehabilitation coach and GPS analyst Andreas Silvestros, nutritionist Evagoras Christofidis, orthopedist Dr. Steven Iosifidis and Professor Dr. Nikos Zamboglou.
Subsequently, Dr. Papadopoulos shared part of his academic and experience knowledge with the students, explaining how the international physiotherapy standards work and the effort that is being made, to apply them to Cypriot professional football.
The ensuing discussion was very interesting, with students showing keen interest, expressing opinions and asking questions.
