Rest in peace, Maestro

Aris Limassol expresses its deep sorrow for the loss of Marinos Mitellas, who passed away yesterday at the age of 87.

A man of profound love and unwavering dedication to Aris, Maestro Mitellas served as conductor of the Aris Choir for 52 consecutive years, elevating the choir to international acclaim. His passion and selfless contribution have left an indelible mark on our club and on the cultural life of Cyprus.

It would not be an overstatement to say that if Aris’s cultural legacy had a name, it would be his.

Through his lifelong commitment to music education and choral excellence, Marinos Mitellas inspired generations and shaped the choral tradition in Cyprus. In recognition of his immense contribution, he was honored in 2008 with the Medal of Letters, Arts and Culture by the Republic of Cyprus.

As a gesture of respect and remembrance, a minute of silence will be observed in his memory ahead of our team’s upcoming friendly match in Austria this Wednesday. Players will also wear black armbands in his honor.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life and work.

May the earth rest lightly upon him.
