For the first time ever, Aris Limassol participated in the draw for the 2nd qualifying round of the Conference League. Azerbaijan’s Neftchi Baku will be our first opponent. The first leg is set for July 21st at AEK ARENA. The second leg game will be played one week later (July 28) at Backell Arena, Baku.
The opponent:
Neftchi Baku was founded in 1937, and their colors are white and black. Last season, they were runners up in the championship, being 19 points short of champions Qarabag FK. They have been crowned champions nine times so far and won the cup seven times.
Along with Qarabag, FK is considered to be the most successful club in Azerbaijan. Neftchi competed 70 times in all European competitions. Their home arena is Backell Arena, with a capacity of 11,000 seats.
