Interview with Yauhen Yablonski

You’ve been in Cyprus only for a few days. What are your first impressions of Limassol and the club?

The most pleasant. Cozy city, friendly people. I was surprised by the left-hand traffic, but I'm starting to get used to it. Before the transfer, of course, I was interested in the club and read about it on the Internet. This knowledge is not out of touch with reality. I liked everything, I was well received, thank you.

This is the first time you moved abroad to play football. In addition, winter transfers have limited time to adapt. Does this concern you?

I understand that I would have to adapt quickly if I move to a team where the championship was in full swing. Therefore, immediately after the New Year, I resumed individual training to be in good shape. Of course, you have to adapt a little faster, but I was ready for this. I want to start contributing to the team as soon as possible!

Can you describe yourself as a player and a person outside the pitch?

It is not easy to talk about yourself, it is better seen from the outside. But I have always been told that I am disciplined, reliable and responsible. I definitely agree with this, that's how I feel. Off the field I am very kind, I do not like to argue.

How come you chose the number 58 on your shirt? Does it have a special meaning to you?

I have spent my entire professional career under number 5. It was not available in ARIS. I thought about which numbers with a five I like, settled on 58. In fact, there is no special meaning. I just liked it :)

You are quite young but at the same time a very experienced player. You have several games in Champions and Europa League under your belt. What were the reasons you decided to join ARIS and Cyprus championship?

It has always been important for me that the team sets high goals and strives to achieve them. ARIS is just about that. I believe that great achievements are waiting for the club. As an athlete, I always want to grow and achieve. ARIS can give such an opportunity. And I hope that I can help the team as much as possible in achieving its goals.

Have you talked with any other player here in Cyprus before you took the decision to accept ARIS offer?

No. I knew that the former player of the Belarusian team “Gomel” Vitaly was playing in ARIS, but I did not call him. I wanted to make a choice based on my feelings and perceptions.

Is there anything that made a really big impression on you here in Cyprus these first few days?

As I said above, no matter how funny it sounds, left-hand traffic :) Otherwise, I managed to read a little about Cyprus and was more or less ready. I’m surprised that I didn’t read anything about left-hand traffic in advance :) And the next day upon arrival I was at the APOEL-ARIS match, and I was pleasantly impressed by the excellent football atmosphere at the stadium and the charge of local fans. I think the rest of the impressions and discoveries from Cyprus are yet to come.

This is your first interview here. What do you want to tell the fans that are eager to see you play?

First of all, I want to greet everyone and say that I am glad to be a part of the ARIS family. I hope to get the right form as soon as possible, to enter the field and live up to expectations. I will always be glad to see them at the stadium because their support is always especially important for the team.
