FRANZ BRORSSON

ARIS latest signing, the Swede Franz Brorsson, gave his first interview to our official website www.arisfc.com and helped us get to know him a little bit better.

What are your first impressions of the team (team-mates, coaches and the club in general)?

They have treated me very well and I feel very welcomed by all the staff members, players and coaches. I feel that the club wants to grow even bigger and go step by step every day to accomplish that.

You have been a full international with your country and you've been playing in the Champions League only a couple of months back. What were the reasons that persuaded you to join ARIS and the Cyprus championship?

ARIS has a very interesting ongoing project, I want to be a part of that journey, play with the team in Europe and win titles of course.

Is it true that you are named after Beckenbauer? How come?

Yes, it is true, my father really liked Franz Beckenbauer and he wanted his first son to be named after Beckenbauer.

Have you spoken with anyone from Cyprus (players, coaches, etc.) to collect information before joining ARIS?

Yes, I talked to some players I’ve played with before in Sweden, who now play here in Cyprus, they had only good things to say about the league and the country.

You have played a year on a loan in Denmark, but other than that you spent your career in Sweden. Cyprus is quite different. Do you think that it will be easy for you to adapt to the Cypriot way of life and local football?

We play international football with guys from all over the world, so I think I will adapt pretty fast. Maybe I will find it hard when it gets too hot. I am used to playing in very cold weather.

You’ve been here for just a few days. Is there anything that made a big impression on you?

It is a very nice city and bigger than I thought. I live close to the Icon building and it impressed me a lot, as well as all the other buildings that are under construction.

You chose number 31 on your t-shirt. It is the same number you wore in Sweden. Does it have a special meaning to you?

It was my first and only number I played with on senior level and every low number was occupied, so the choice was easy.

How would you describe yourself on and off the pitch?

I am a very humble and calm guy off the pitch, but on the pitch I’m a bit different, I can get some cards that’s for sure.

Which areas of your game do you consider to be your strong ones?

One against one, my speed and [the ability to] to transport the ball up high on the pitch.

We do have a few Scandinavians in our league, but you are the only Swede. Is it an extra motive for you knowing that you represent Swedish football in Cyprus?

Yes, it will maybe open up doors for more Swedes to come here and play.

ARIS is having a dream season so far. What is the message you want to send to our fans?

ARIS has taken many big steps in a short period of time, but we are not satisfied, we are not here to see and learn, we are here to win. And I hope we can celebrate many victories together.
